Cand spui cartofi imediat te gandesti la cartofi pai sau alte bunatati si ti se face pofta. Dar oare cum o fi fost demult demult cand europenii au vazut prima data cartoful ? Maroniu, vestejit, niciun gust sau chiar deloc placut as putea spune. Totusi, el a fost adus in Germania pentru ca era mai mult decat necesar un nou produs alimentar care sa fie o buna alternativa pentru anii secetosi sau prea ploiosi sau prea frigurosi cand graul nu era suficient pentru a hrani atatea guri. Asa ca regele din vremea aceea a adunat toti taranii, le-a dat cartofi si le-a poruncit sa-l cultive. Ca tot omul, cand au muscat din cartofi l-au aruncat numai decat si au refuzat cu vehementa sa cultive o asa porcarie. Fiind un ordin regal, cei care nu-l respectau erau persecutati si pedepsiti dar cu toate eforturile posibile, taranii refuzau sa cultive cartofii. Atunci regele a gasit o noua solutie.
